The IOU Project
The IOU Project makes unique, handmade, traceable apparel. That alone is exciting. But the real difference lies deeper. Because each fabric is unique, we provide end buyers with the ability to trace the process from finished item right down to the weaver that hand-wove the fabric. The stories of how that item was created, of the people involved, of the customers who purchased them, are the essence of the e-commerce social network which The IOU Project has built as a meeting place for a community that shares our brand values of authenticity, transparency, uniqueness and both social and environmental responsibility.
Convince Me
People flood to the streets in Egypt asking for bread, freedom, and social justice. Egypt deserves better social welfare, and a major question is which economic policies Egypt should pursue, and what should the related strategy and priorities be?
“Convince Me” «اقنعني شكراً» is an independent Debate platform that emerged to create a forum to carry out economic debates in Arabic in a competitive and engaging environment. The audience votes twice (before and after the debate) and the winning team of panelists is the one who changes the minds of the audience. Putting parties of differing viewpoints and ideologies in the same space can lead to the emergence of think tanks, establishment of institutional capabilities, and enable more educated decisions. “Convince Me” targets the general public as TED do, but in a debate format, and it would scale up through social media streaming and engagement. People in a number of countries face the same challenges as the Egyptians, and the “Convince Me” network is looking forward to expand its platform to host similar debates in these countries.
