Join IE Social Innovation Venture Network  Thursday, 20th March

The Social Venture Network is a pitch slam dedicated to social innovation which is an invaluable resource for early stage social entrepreneurs, a forum for engaging the social entrepreneurial community, promoting your startup, and at best securing an investment from an investor. The Social Venture Network is unique in that it is a very informal gathering where startups can meet investors in an informal setting over beers and snacks and focus on what’s important; building relationships. The Social Venture Network is a great way to perfect your pitch, get feedback on your product, and meet the local startup community.

The Social Venture Network´s panel of startup experts will include:

. Mikel Oleaga, Impact Hub Madrid Deputy Director Venture Lab
. Lara Viada, UEIA

. Carolina Jérôme, UnLtd Spain
. Francisco Soler, Creas
. Javier Olaguibel, Ashoka

HelpUp! is a virtual social network based on 3 profiles:

Volunteers: Inside HelpUp! you can create a profile where you choose the project preferences you may like, then you can interact with other volunteers, organizations or corporations. You can join charity projects, vote for them, recommend or make reviews to help projects improve.
Charity organizations: They can use their own minisites where to publish and share all projects they are involved in, so people could join them.
Corporations: They have own minisites to share and spread the CSR actions they are implicated. They alsowould be able to receive feedback from the CSR management from their stakeholders.»

The IOU Project

The IOU Project makes unique, handmade, traceable apparel. That alone is exciting. But the real difference lies deeper. Because each fabric is unique, we provide end buyers with the ability to trace the process from finished item right down to the weaver that hand-wove the fabric. The stories of how that item was created, of the people involved, of the customers who purchased them, are the essence of the e-commerce social network which The IOU Project has built as a meeting place for a community that shares our brand values of authenticity, transparency, uniqueness and both social and environmental responsibility.

Convince Me

People flood to the streets in Egypt asking for bread, freedom, and social justice. Egypt deserves better social welfare, and a major question is which economic policies Egypt should pursue, and what should the related strategy and priorities be?

“Convince Me” «اقنعني شكراً» is an independent Debate platform that emerged to create a forum to carry out economic debates in Arabic in a competitive and engaging environment. The audience votes twice (before and after the debate) and the winning team of panelists is the one who changes the minds of the audience. Putting parties of differing viewpoints and ideologies in the same space can lead to the emergence of think tanks, establishment of institutional capabilities, and enable more educated decisions. “Convince Me” targets the general public as TED do, but in a debate format, and it would scale up through social media streaming and engagement. People in a number of countries face the same challenges as the Egyptians, and the “Convince Me” network is looking forward to expand its platform to host similar debates in these countries.
