Following the most recent edition of the IE Venture Days, on the 16th and 17th of November, Gary Stewart joins Wayra, Telefónica´s startup accelerator, and leaves his position at the Venture Lab. It has been almost two years of hard-work in which the Venture Lab has continued to grow with each new edition producing successful startups by IE entrepreneurs. From the Entrepreneurship Centre we would like to show Gary our appreciation and thank him for his extraordinary work. In any case, this is not a goodbye as Gary will maintain a connection with IE Business School as entrepreneur in residence and will hold investor office hours at IE Venture Network; The International Center of Entrepreneurial Management will continue to support Wayra and its international growth.

We would like to welcome Paris de l’Etraz, who is the new Managing Director of the Venture Lab; and Liz Fleming, Deputy Managing Director of the Venture Lab and newest member of the Venture Network management team.

Paris, who is also Professor of Entrepreneurship and Associate Dean for Blended Programs , has a broad experience not only as investor but also as entrepreneur. Paris will lead the opening up of the Venture Lab to all the IE programs, and the introduction of the International Venture Days leveraging the truly international nature of successful entrepreneurship and IE Business School who boasts one of the world’s most international student and alumni network and is a leader in the development of Blended Programs.  The Venture Lab aims to introduce a technology platform (currently being tested via PasiónIE www.pasionie.com) which will facilitate the internationalization of both Venture Lab participants and the Venture Days.

Liz, having spent most of her career in the Seed Capital industry as an Investment Advisor with Enterprise Ireland and Programme Managerfor Ireland´s national Business Angel Network, HBAN, joins IE Business School to accelerate the development of the Venture Lab startups, attracting both local and international investor interest and helping Venture Lab participants to secure seed financing.  Apart from her work for the Venture Lab, Liz with be tasked with growing our own latest startup endeavor the IE Venture Network  created by the International Center of Entrepreneurial Management.  The Venture Network is an informal meeting place for students, entrepreneurs, and investors to come together on a weekly basis over three pitch slams by selected entrepreneurs.
